Who are we?
Scientists without Labels is a non-for-profit initiative with the goal to broaden the visibility of underrepresented groups within the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM).
The lack of visible role models from a diverse background is a contributing factor for young people to decide against a career in STEMM or for talented scientists to drop out of these fields. This matters as studies show diversity in science is important to adequately address the complex problems of our society. Additionally, there is compelling evidence that diverse teams are more creative, innovative and effective.
The aim of Scientists without Labels is to provide a platform to showcase the diverse backgrounds and career paths of emerging scientists* as well as established role models in the STEMM community.
Through the power of storytelling, we strive to share the stories of incredible individuals who break the stereotype of what it means to be a scientist. By collecting these stories and sharing them through social media, we hope to bring the diverse voices of science to the forefront.
*We define scientist as anyone who has studied and/or works in the fields of STEMM!
